The Morning after..

It is the morning after the 4th Annual Bloggers Conference - I am not going to post about the Conference other than to say it was well attended, well received, and I for one got quite a bit out of it.  Not the least of which were meeting some new people who I am hoping to see again.

Please keep your eyes on the Blog Roll to see what attendees are saying about the event and their lives and interests.

Thanks again to the Conference Committee; Barry, Debi,  Joanna, Jonna, Marc, and Theresa.

And especially to our presenters and panelists - Marc, Barry, Stan, Brent, Cathy, Rainie, Nancy, Lee, and Barb.

And to all the attendees - Thank you.

saludos
debi, for the Committee

Conference recap

The 3rd Annual Latin American Bloggers Conference occurred this past weekend.  The coordination team of Joanna van der Gracht de Rosado, Theresa Diaz Grey, and Debi Kuhn were all aided by family and friends.

The event started with a no-host Social at the Merida English Language Library (MELL).  It was a great success with re-acquainting old friendships, and forging new and stronger ties.

Saturday started off with coffee and pastries as we visited and got set up for a full day of seminars.

The morning started with Theresa helping us identify the focus of our blogs and giving us tips on how to stay on focus.

Then Steve enlightened us on copyright law and internet ethics.

Marc helped us understand how to build and support our blog stories through the addition of photos.  He also gave us tips on photo point of view.  All Very interesting!

Then we were off for lunch.

The afternoon continued with Joanna giving us helpful hints and tips on writing for our audience.

We concluded with 2 moderated workshops; Jonna focused on Wordpress, and Debi led the Blogger group.

The participants went off in varying groups for evening entertainments, and then regrouped on Sunday for brunch, after which the participants again went off for more adventures in Merida and surrounds.

The feedback has been positive - I know I for one enjoyed the event, the people, and the presentations.  And as always I learned a lot!   I think others enjoyed it as well.

I, and others are wondering who will pick up the 4the Annual Latin American Bloggers Conference!  We look forward.

Orquestra Sinfónica de Yucatán, and Art in November

During the Bloggers Conference this year the Orquestra Sinfónica de Yucatán will still be performing.

If you are so inclined on Sunday, November 14 at noon you will be able to attend a performance of this fabulous symphony

Even if you are a so, so symphony fan you should attend just to sit inside and view the Peón Contreras Theatre,  It really is a fabulously beautiful space.

Just another fun thing to do while here in Merida!

Oh Yeah - as you enter the Theatre if you go to your left there is the Galería del Vestíbulo del Teatro Peón Contreras.  You sort of have to know about it, and now you do.  You will typically find an art installation of some sort there!

I just came across this link of Art Exhibitions for the 2010 Season by ArtesVisualesYucatán
Looks like some pretty cool stuff will be going on!

These are exciting times!

Feria Yucatán Xmatkuil 2010

While you are planning your trip to attend the Latin American Bloggers Conference, add in a few extra days - Why?, well there really are so many things to do and see.

One really fun event is the Feria Yucatán Xmatkuil 2010 which will be taking place November 12 through December 5.  Read more about the feria here,

Public transport from Centro (Calle 69 entre 58 y 60) will make the trip quick and easy, and pretty darn cheap at 6pesos each way.
Entry was 12pesos in 2009 (if I remember correctly...)

Previous Conferences, in the beginning

The first annual Latin American Blogger's Conference was held on Isla Mujeres. Here is a list of just a few posts generated by that historic meeting.

Wayne of Isla Mujeres: Gringo in Paradise got the ball rolling and hosted the 1st Latin American Blogger's Meet up. So let's start at his blog. He does a great job of chronicling the meeting, starting with Blogger Meeting, the beginning, followed by The Fun Just Keeps On Coming and ending with Saturday Night's Alright. Wayne takes great photos, check them out!

Heather in Paradise wrote Bloggers Behaving Badly Part 1 and Part 2.

Kelly from A Canuck in Cancun posted And a good time was had by all, which pretty much sums it up.

3rd Annual Latin American Blogger's Conference

Mark your calendars! The Third Annual Latin American Bloggers’ Conference will be held in Merida, Yucatan, Mexico from Friday Nov. 12 – Sunday Nov. 14, 2010. The event is open to all Bloggers but in order for us to get ready, it will be necessary for you to pre-register.

Stay tuned… in the next few weeks, we’ll create a form and post it.

This year our venue will be a downtown college campus (http://tttac.com/) that comes with wireless Internet, garden space, and lecture hall.

The activities will start on Friday evening, November 12th with a Cocktail-Social to Meet & Greet your fellow Bloggers.

On Saturday, November 13th we will have a full day of conferences/talks/workshops… lunch, more topics, and more opportunities to eat. Some of the ideas we have are:

· Identifying and keeping your blog’s Focus

· Adding Photos – Uploading, effectiveness and continuity

· Using you Blog to market your product / service / whatever

· A Beginner’s blogging class

· Advanced HTML techniques

Do these topics interest you? Do you have other suggestions? Would you like to do a presentation for your fellow bloggers? Do let us know because we want this conference to be as good as it can be.

Saturday will also provide an evening opportunity to see some of Merida’s clubs and bistros… There are a number to choose from.

We’ll say goodbye with a Sunday morning breakfast, unless you decide to stay and enjoy Merida for a few extra days.

Please email and let us know if you want to come and join us. Please invite other bloggers you know and by all means, post this information on your blog. We hope to have as many Latin American Bloggers attend the conference as possible. The more the merrier!

In a few weeks, we will be compiling a short list of hotels, restaurants and other places of interest located close to the conference site.
